Meet Carly
Hi, I'm Carly, a psychologist who believes that compassion and honesty can exist together in therapy. I help people get clear on their needs, set boundaries that feel solid, and speak up even when it feels uncomfortable.
My approach to therapy is client-centered and collaborative. You don't have to do this perfectly. You just have to show up.
“you are the expert in your own life, you are always in the driver's seat, and I might just pop in as GPS from time to time.”
Compassionate without coddling. Direct without being harsh.

Why you're so tired
You've spent years:Reading the room before you speak.Keeping quiet to keep the peace.Putting others' comfort first.
You deserve to hear your own voice again.

My Approaches
The approaches I use
Five ways of working, matched to what shows up. We start client-centered and add what the work needs as we go. You don't have to pick before you call.

EMDR Therapy
For experiences that still feel raw long after they happened. EMDR gives the work structure without forcing the pace. You decide what we look at, when, and how far we go.
CBT
For the loops between what you think, what you feel, and what you do. CBT is practical and collaborative, and you leave sessions with something you can use the same week.
Client-Centered Therapy
The foundation of everything above: collaborative therapy where you set the direction.
Emotion-Focused Therapy
For people who can explain their feelings perfectly and still can't feel them.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Short-term and practical, built around what you want to be different next month.
Fees
Fees, briefly
Money is part of this decision, and you shouldn't have to guess. A sliding scale is available on request, and I'd rather talk about cost openly than have it be the reason you don't call.
$220 for a 50 minute session. $330 for 80 minutes. Your first 15 minute consultation is free, by video or phone. I don't offer direct billing. There's a fee for late cancellations, though life is unpredictable and I'd rather you tell me. Just give me as much notice as you can.
Why you won't find star ratings
How to tell if I'm the right fit
Reviews from current clients aren't solicited here. That's a College of Alberta Psychologists standard, and honestly I'd rather you trust the fit than the star rating.
So here's what you can actually check.
And if we talk and it isn't a fit, I'll tell you, and I'll point you somewhere better.
FAQ
Questions people ask
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you're asking the question, something is probably asking to be heard. You don't need a crisis or a diagnosis to book a call. If you keep having the same argument, swallowing the same words, or feeling drained by things that look small from the outside, that's reason enough. A consultation call is a conversation about fit, and either of us can say it isn't one.
Who do I work with?
Adults. Most of the people I see are tired of people-pleasing. They avoid conflict, feel guilty saying no, apologize too much, and shrink themselves to stay liked. I also work with anxiety and stress, self-trust and emotional regulation, boundary setting, and assertive communication. Sessions are in person in Edmonton or by video across Alberta.
Who do I not work with?
I see adults, one at a time. It isn't couples work, and if the goal is to be in the room together, I can point you to people who do that well. If you're in active crisis and need stabilisation first, therapy with me isn't the right starting point. The crisis support page lists who to call right now.
How many sessions will I need?
There's no honest universal number, and I won't invent one. It depends on what you're carrying and what you want to be different. We'll check in regularly about whether the work is working, and I won't keep you in therapy longer than it's serving you.
Do you do direct billing?
No, I don't offer direct billing. You pay for the session directly and get a copy of your receipt right away, so you can submit it to your insurer. If you want to check what your plan covers before booking, ask me on your free consultation call.
Do you offer video/phone sessions?
Yes. I see people in person at my Edmonton office and by secure video or phone across Alberta, including clients in Calgary. If you're not sure which format suits you, that's a good question for the consultation call.

Not ready to book? That's allowed.
Read what a first session actually looks like, or take something with you and come back whenever you want.
