Meet Carly

Hi, I’m Carly, a psychologist who believes that compassion and honesty can exist together in therapy.

I help people get clear on their needs, set boundaries that feel solid, and speak up even when it feels uncomfortable.

My Practice

Why I do this work

I work with adults, in person at my Edmonton office and by video across Alberta, including clients in Calgary. People usually find me when keeping everyone else comfortable has started to cost too much.

My approach to therapy is client-centered and collaborative. I offer a supportive and empathetic environment where you can explore your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment.

That doesn’t mean I sit and nod. When something deserves to be named, I’ll name it, with care.

You don’t have to do this perfectly. You just have to show up.

My Approach

How I show up in the room

Four things you can count on from me.

Compassionate without coddling.

You’ll feel supported here. And when something needs to be said, I’ll say it with care.

Direct without being harsh.

If I notice a pattern getting in your way, I’ll name it, gently and clearly. That honesty is part of the work.

Client-centered and collaborative.

You set the direction and the pace. We check in often about what’s helping, and we adjust when something isn’t.

It’s honesty with compassion.

Warmth and truth work better together than either does alone. That balance is what I aim for in every session.

How I describe my role

“you are the expert in your own life, you are always in the driver’s seat, and I might just pop in as GPSfrom time to time.”

The short version

Therapy Withoutthe Sugarcoating.

You don’t need to be fixed. You need to be heard.

Who I Work With

What we can work on together

I work with adults across a range of concerns. These six come up the most.

  • Self-trust + emotional regulation
  • Assertive communication
  • People-pleasing
  • Conflict avoidance
  • Boundary setting
  • Anxiety + stress

An Honest Note

Who I don’t work with

Fit matters more than anything in therapy. So before you book, some honesty about mine.

If you’re in crisis right now

I’m not available for crisis calls, and you deserve support that can answer immediately. Call 780-482-4357, or find more options on the crisis support page.

If you’re under 18

My practice is therapy for adults, so I don’t see children or teens. A therapist who works with young people will be a better match.

If what you need is outside my lane

Some situations call for specialized care I don’t provide. If that’s you, I’ll say so in our first conversation and point you toward someone better placed to help.

Not sure where you land? Ask. That’s exactly what the consultation call is for.

Credentials

Credentials and background

I hold an MA and practise in Edmonton. My training spans EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy, client-centered therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and solution-focused therapy, and I draw on each depending on what you need.

If you want the detail on how each approach works and how I decide what to use, the approaches pages lay it out in plain language.

The Space

Where we meet

My office is at 5920 Gateway Boulevard NW, Unit 203, in south Edmonton. The room is warm and quiet: a deep green couch, soft lamplight, and space to think.

Prefer to meet from home? Video sessions are available across Alberta and work the same way as meeting in person. Same approach, same pace, wherever you’re comfortable.

If you have access needs or questions about the building, ask when you book and I’ll walk you through what to expect.

Let’s Talk About What You Need

The first step is a consultation call. You tell me what’s going on, I tell you honestly whether I can help, and you decide from there. No pressure either way.
